TCFL has a number of school events throughout the year. The Mixer, held in early May, provides an opportunity for students from each year to collaboratively create and present a short drama skit. Through this tasks, students get to know each other better. In July, on the final day before the summer break, students enjoy an afternoon of bowling together. Again, this “Sports Day” is intended to foster student morale. In late October the students and teachers put on a School Festival that lasts for two days. During this event, students sing, dance, play various games and in general try to have a good time. In early December, the annual TCFL Drama Night sees the 1st and 2nd year drama students put on theatrical performances for the general public. Done in English, these plays offer students a chance to express themselves creatively in a foreign language. Soon after, a Christmas Party is held just before the winter break. Traditionally, students hold a cake decorating contest, play English games, and exchange presents. This is a big event for the Video Production class, as students get a chance to show off their projects. Finally, just before the school year ends in February, a Farewell Party is held for all graduating students. Again, the Video Production students create a highlight video of the year’s events.
Christmas Party Video 2007
Here is the video my students created for last year’s Christmas Party. It was our first ever documentary, a look at how Christmas is celebrated around the world. Students interviewed each of the TCFL teachers and asked them a series of questions, then structured the video around these.
Farewell Party Video 2008
Below is the Farewell Party video from last year. It showcases each of the school events and gives a good impression of the fun students had. The format is a simple “highlights reel” set to music. Students poured over hours of footage and picked out their favorite bits.

This was fun to listen to. But it made me homesick to hear all the memories of open house, friends and family visiting, milk and cookies for Santa, my first bicycle, turkey dinner, going to church, and music. But this I am glad I clicked on this link. Oh yeah, someone just mentioned Charlie Brown’s Christmas last week. Amazing. NICE WORK!! Thank you all.
